Surfing

The girls have wanted to learn to surf ever since they fell in love with the movie Soul Suffer last summer.  They watched that movie probably a couple dozen times and have been dying to try real surfing.  Grandma and Grandpa Howard spoiled them and got them surfing lessons one morning.  We woke up to an overcast morning so we were worried that they might not be able to do it, but rain or shine they teach lessons so we headed down to the beach.

The girls had so much fun.  They gave them a little instruction on the beach and then they headed out to the ocean to start trying.  It takes a long time for the right wave to come along, but all three quickly got the hang of it and they all got up several times.

Waiting for the waves.

Caroline showing off her surfing skills.

 Grace surfing.
 Hannah surfing the big wave.
Don't let those blue clouds fool you.  The sun came out for a few minutes before it started raining.  Benjamin and I headed back to hang out in the car while John, Kim and the rest of the kids played in the rainy ocean.  They finally gave up and we spent the rest of the day at home, but the girls had a memorable day surfing at the beach.
 Look at those smiles.
