New Year's Eve and John's Birthday

So we hosted our now annual birthday party for John's birthday at our house.  We aren't party animals but this year we did something fun.  One of our neighbors coordinated a Chinese Sky Lantern launch.  I must say it was one of the coolest and most beautiful things I have seen.  There is a picture floating around on Pinterest of such a launch and our was some in comparison, but I can see it growing and becoming quite a tradition.  I think they said there were about 50 lanterns that were launched at midnight.  We took our friends down to the park to launch while the dad's stayed back with the children that had already fallen asleep so they watched from the house.  Next year we will have to get everyone there for the launch.
