San Diego- Day One

The first day in San Diego we went to Sea World.  Now that some of the kids are getting older it is nice that we can divide into two groups an older group and a younger group.

Our family has a fascination with maps.  Here the little kiddos are mapping out the plan for the day. Don't worry we have more map pictures to come. :)

Some of the older generation taking a little nap while 'watching' sleeping Benjamin.

These cutie patoties getting ready to go into the 4-D movie.  Right before this we had a scary moment. We had just gone outside the park to eat our lunch and we were regrouping and going different directions.  Josh got separated from us and we couldn't find him for about 10 minutes.  He ended up at lost and found, but those 10 minutes were scary.  Every bad thought runs through your mind.  Needless to say I stuck with him the rest of the day.

Reaching out to touch the star fish.

After Sea World we headed over to the Flo Rider.  This was one of the most fun things we did on the vacation.  We had an hour on the Flo Rider all to ourselves.  Ever since their fascination with Soul Suffer  last summer (they watched it over a dozen times) they have wanted to go surfing.  You would think the show would have scared them into never wanting to surf.
Anne Marie showing off her surfing skills, just ignore the rope she is holding on to.

 The cheering spectators.

Smiles before the Flo rider.  I am glad I gave it a try, but I could have been happy being one of the cheering spectators.

 Grace taking it very seriously.

This little girl mastered it.  She could stay on it for hours if she wanted to.

Hannah giving it all she's got.  Hannah is a natural suffer girl.  She could stay on the board with the best of them.  It is actually much harder than it looks.  You really have to push down hard to keep the 'waves' from pushing you to the top.

Here was my 10 second experience.  I didn't push down hard enough and it took me right to the top.  It was quite a chilly day and I had no desire to give it another try.  Too cold = too old.
John did better than I did, but really it was the kids that LOVED it.  We bought the San Diego City Pass which had about 50 venues that you could visit with the card.  The Flo Rider is not something that we would have paid to do on its own, but it was a lot of fun.  The kids didn't mind the cold and did it over and over.
