Joshua's 4th Birthday

This year Joshua's birthday fell on Easter.  I am not sure how likely that is, but I am sure it won't happen again for quite awhile.  We were able to celebrate with cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents.  So we combined his birthday celebration with dinner and an Easter egg hunt.

Josh is such a great kid.  We love him so much.  He like all my other kids has a strong-will.  Here are some great things about Josh.

1. He loves when I sing primary songs to him at night.  His favorite is I Like to Look for Rainbows.
2. He loves to sleep outside. (This is being written in July, several months after his birthday). He has been sleeping almost every night on the back deck.
3. He is very confident.  He tells me all the time, "Mom I can babysit myself."  Once he didn't want to come with me somewhere and the girls were at school.  He told me he would babysit himself, so I tried to scare him and tell him to watch out for the monsters and don't answer the door because scary people could come by.  Then I left and waited for him to run out after me.  When he didn't come I went back to get him.  He had locked the door and was honestly surprised that I had come back.
4. Josh loves to play with his cousin Ellie and his neighbor Ella.
5.  He is a wiz on his bike.  Grace begged me for a couple of days to take off his training wheels.  She said she would teach him to ride a bike.  I finally took them off and within 30 seconds he was riding his  bike without training wheels.
6. He has a great primary teacher (our neighbor) and their little Sunbeam class is the best.  They sit on their chairs the entire time and listen so carefully.
7. He loves to ride the 4-wheeler and the 'little truck'.

I love his blond hair in the summer and his little dimples that show up when he smiles.  He has such expressive eyes, they are bright and shiny or dark and smokey depending on his mood.  I am so lucky that he is in our family and that I get to be his mother.  I know he will be an amazing person.

The look of disappointment.  Had to include that, there is always disappointment when the competition is so high.

Grandma's Birthday cake she made for Josh.
