There is something so magical about decorating a Christmas tree. Our Christmas tree is small and not so beautiful, but the kids love to decorate it. I used to try and control the decorating of the Christmas tree, but I have given up on that. It used to cause me stress and frustration. It is much more enjoyable this way. It is not the most beautiful tree, but there is a future time for that. One day I would like to have a beautiful tree with every ornament in the perfect place. But for now this is perfect.
About 6 or 7 years ago we started collecting Christmas ornaments. Many of them have come from foreign countries from my sister's travels. They remind us of special trips and places we have been.
Love that excited smile. That is why it is ok that I don't have control of the Christmas ornaments or where they are hung. They are only children for a little while. I want them to remember the excitement of decorating the tree together, not a tree that they weren't allowed to help decorate or touch. It is great to see their excitment at finding the perfect place to hang their ornament.

believe it or not (i know with my personality you'd think otherwise) but i totally agree. we have a mismash of ornaments with one dating back to 1974 that Brent made. (okay, i do cringe just a bit when that one goes on.) but one day i'll have a theme tree but that time is not yet and i'm okay with that. these pictures of yours capture it perfectly!
We are just now starting to have a more fully even looking tree. For a few years there let's just say the trees were very bottom heavy!!! Last year we gave in and got a second tree for the living room that is the "boys tree!" They love knowing it's theirs only and I love having my own tree, although this year Sage was old enough to really be interested in hanging ornaments and didn't want to have anything to do with the "boy tree"...
