Friends of Summer- Sleepover

Oh where do I begin with Friends of Summer.  I've got to give some background I guess.  Friends of Summer is a break off of Friends of Christmas.  I know sounds exciting.  John has some good friends from his college days.  The Herbert's, his roommate and EFY co-workers, started a tradition of hosting a Christmas party every year with some of their good friends from college.  This tradition has been going on for about 12 years now.  They gave it the name Friends of Christmas because Bret is a comedian at heart and loves to make anyone laugh with exaggerated stories and silly names, so thus Friends of Christmas.  Somewhere along the way Friends of Summer was born.  I know a lot of unnecessary info, but this is for my records too, when I am old and can no longer remember what we called it or why.

So.... Friends of Summer involves hauling your tent, sleeping bags, clothes, tooth brushes, food assignments, treats, and anything else you may need for the night over to the Herbert's backyard and sleeping over.  It really is quite fun although a little strange.  About 10-15 families all arrive on a Friday night and pitch their tents.  We then roast hot dogs and marshmallows play games like PIG and Twister (everyone has to play-even if you can't shoot a basketball to save your life) watch a movie on an outdoor screen and stay up to all hours of the night visiting.  The next morning we then eat breakfast and visit some more and then pack everything up and bring it home.  Camping the wimpy way.

I didn't get any pictures of the tents set up or the movie or the dozens of kids.  I'll get those next year since we will be there again doing the same thing.
