John had a birthday recently. He is a guy that doesn't like a lot of attention and is happy with very little. So unfortunately, since his birthday is right after Christmas both of those things are easily accomplished. This year we were able to pull off a little birthday party, very low key with family. It was just his speed.
I call John a chameleon because he can change and adapt to anyone or any situation. (He says that is how he got me to marry him.) He can socialize easily with anyone from the red-neck to the Ivie-Leaguer. It doesn't matter if you are rich or poor, a sports fanatics or an intellect John can find something to talk to you about. It is probably because he is such a great listener, he doesn't like to talk about himself or brag, but he can get anyone talking about themselves, and hey who doesn't like to talk about themselves and have someone listen who is genuinely interested. We have moved a lot and he has interviewed for a lot of jobs over the years, as soon as he gets an interview I know that he will get a job offer. People are just drawn to him, and so are we. We think he is great. He won't like this but since I blog to remember our history and to keep up with a few friends I will go ahead and list some of the things I love about him.
1. He doesn't get mad very often. He is able to hold in his anger and get over things quickly. That has helped a lot in our marriage. :)
2. He has an amazing amount of self-control. See #1 again.
3. He is fun to be around. He is relaxed and casual, which makes it fun to be around him.
4. He works hard and is a perfectionist when he does a job.
5. He treats everyone with respect, including me. He puts up with a lot in our home and doesn't miss a beat.
