Benjamin Turns 2

Hard to believe our baby turned 2.  By the time Joshua was 2 Benjamin was one month old.  I waited 5 kids to get one that wanted dad over mom, he is a daddy's boy through and through.(Ok, I wrote this months ago and things have changed a little.  He usually wants the opposite and of whoever he is with.  Difficult kids. :))  He is fine with me if John isn't around, but as soon as daddy is in sight he reaches for him.  He wants him to change his diapers and put him to bed.  I have more appreciation for John trying to help with the kids when they were wanting me.  It is just so much easier to hand them over.

Here are some thing about Benjamin that we want to remember.

1.  He is sleeping in a pac-n-play since the crib didn't last through Joshua.  Since he is 2 and still sleeping in a pac-n-lay he can climb out.  He climbs out during the middle of the night and comes to our door.  We usually have the door shut since we leave the hall light on for the kids.  He comes to the door, sits on the floor and rattles the door it till one of us wakes-up and gets him.  Since he is the last I let him get in bed with us and he sleeps the rest of the night there.

2. He drinks soy milk.  Today he was reaching for what I was drinking, regular milk, when he tasted it he made a funny face and said, 'yuk'.  I guess there is no going back.

3. He loves his binkies.

4. He loves to copy whatever Josh is doing.  One day Joshua was drinking milk and he spit it out on the floor to be funny.  Benjamin looked at him and then did the same thing.  They were being naughty, but it was funny.

5.  He has terrible eczema.  I have taken him to a specialist and tried many different things.  The only thing that seems to help is taking him off of dairy.  (Thus the soy milk).  It is hard keeping him completely off of dairy, there are so many things that contain diary and with older siblings it is very difficult.

6. He doesn't talk much.  He understands everything, but says very few words.  It is frustrating for both of us.

7. He loves me to kiss his binkie when it is in his mouth.

Benjamin loves to play or snuggle with grandpa.

We love this kid.  He is working hard at keeping up with the older kids.  He gives me his binky to hold when we are out in public so he can be a 'big kid', but when we get back home he remembers and wants it again.

He is sweet and giggly but he can also be very obstinate.  I  have had to literally hold him down with both legs and arms to get a diaper on him and then as soon as I let him go he rips it off.  Ug.  Once he went over an hour (I know gross) without a diaper on before he brought one to me and was ready for me to put it on.  How come all of my kids are so stubborn and free thinking.  I know it will serve them well one day, but it is not serving me well now.

Anyways I degrease. This kid is a lot of fun and we love having him in our family.  He likes to be on the go which is good for a last child.  Happy Belated Birthday Benjamin.

Oh my goodness! He looks so grown up! This means it's been way too long since we've spent time with your family. I wish we had a family summer trip planned but it looks like we won't be back in Utah until the fall. Save time for us then :)
