Milestones

Wow, when you have kids milestones which mark time come so quickly. I am also learning that the older they get the quicker they come. When you are a kid you don't really pay attention to time. It comes and it goes. You mark time in minutes and days, but as you get older time becomes different it is marked with your children's milestones; the birth of a child, walking, talking, starting school, etc. Those milestones become like minutes and days. Every year at the end of school I ask myself 'wasn't it just yesterday that it was meet the teacher night at the school?' Suddenly you realize that half of your child's life with you in your home is gone.

This week is full of milestones for us. Josh started walking last week, Grace 'graduated' from preschool, Caroline finished kindergarten, and Hannah turns 9 (marking the half way point to becoming an adult). We are also moving and changing jobs, two more milestones that mark time. I figure time by 'when we lived in Connecticut' or 'after we moved to Iowa'. I don't remember years but where we were living, who was born and what they were doing when something happened.

Change is hard! But, I also know it is good. Every change brings new and exciting events and friends. It wouldn't be good if nothing ever changed, I love to see my kids growing up but, it also makes me sad. It has been a hard week emotionally with the pending move. I started to cry when I went to withdraw my kids from school today. So I will cry for the next couple of days, but then we will move ahead, keep all of our great friends and make some new ones. Included are some pictures from some of our milestones this week.

Joshua walking

Caroline and Mrs. King her kindergarten aid and the great crosswalk lady who waits until my kids have crossed (even when they are late) before she goes in.

Grace and Mrs. Hinton - she also taught Caroline.

Grace and Chloe her carpool buddy and playmate.

Caroline's kindergarten program. She looked cute, but we couldn't understand a word they said.

I'm so glad I'm reading this now that you are gone. I'm also grateful I said my goodbyes the night before you left. I don't think I could have watched you drive away the morning off. I'm glad you had a parade to send you along your way. I hope the cookies came in handy during your drive and when you munched on them you knew they were full of love. I hope you find that your neighbor across the street is a great person to barrow from and I'll hope mine is too. :)

Aw, kids grow up so fast.
I think it shocks me everytime my kids reach their next milestone.
I read once where with parenting, the days are long but the years are short.

As to your question, we still live in Farmington, but the ward boundaries have shifted a bit.
The town of West Hartford is combined with the city of Hartford and is now the Hartford Ward.
All the other towns of the former West Hartford Ward (Avon, parts of Simsbury, & Farmington) plus Plainville now make up the Avon Ward.
And that's our ward.
:)
Crazy to think of how much time has passed.
I hope you guys are doing well.
Your family is beautiful.
