Day 2- Technically

So, technically day 2 of our vacation we were still traveling.  I kind of lump those days together because we only slept on the airplane and didn't brush our teeth.  Yuk!  But, we left Monday morning from SLC and arrived in Tel Aviv at about 6 pm Tuesday. After a 2 day weather delay (spent at home luckily), a flight to Chicago, a 2 1/2 hour mechanical delay in Newark, and a 10 hour flight to Israel, we made it! So happy to see my mom! My wonderful parents were there to meet us and drove us back to Jerusalem.

Since they are there with BYU we were able to stay at the BYU Center which was so fabulous!  I love the Center with all my heart!  It is so beautiful and it is so convenient to the old City.  It also has the BEST views of Jerusalem anywhere!

The first thing we did was go into the Upper Auditorium.  It is where Sacrament Meeting is held and the concerts BYU hosts each week.  It is a room built on a hill,  (The whole building is built on a hill) so it has stadium type seating.  Three of the four sides are 2-story floor to ceiling windows.  It is breathtaking!  My memories of the room and the view did not disappoint!  However, the quality of the iphone pics at night did.  You can not really tell from the pictures, but left of the post, about 1/4 the way up is the Dome of the Rock or the Temple Mount.

Checking out Grandma's office.  No views here.
Eighth Floor hall outside my parents office and the entrance to Upper Auditorium.  Caroline hanging out waiting.  Then we were off to bed so we could wake up in the middle of the night and lay in bed until we heard the Call to Prayer and start our exploring.

How comforting to have your parents there to welcome you with open arms. I can feel your excitement to be back to a place you obviously love!
