Apple Picking

A couple of weeks ago the kids had a day off of school, and I had been dying to go apple picking. When we lived in Connecticut we would go apple picking at this great place called Lost Acres Apple Farm. It was in North Granby, almost to MA, tucked away in the hills of CT. It had acres and acres of different types of apples, a farmer that would take the kids on a hay ride, fresh apple cider, and a little shop that sold homemade goods, including the highest apple pies that you have ever seen. The owner was behind the counter making baked goods when you went in. It was the quintessential apple picking experience in New England. It was perfect in every way! Well after living in the desert for 5 years and missing Fall, I was ready to enjoy the Fall experience. So I looked for a great place to go apple picking.

If compared to our CT experience it was very disappointing, but compared to AZ it was great. The farm was only about 75 yards off of a busy street, no winding hills to drive through. The apples were small and looked terrible (they had been through a hail storm). And no fresh baked pies to take home, but we still had a great time. It was fun to be outside and enjoy the fall weather.

How fun, at least it was cold out. I'm sure your outing in CT will never be beat. P.S. We still have our A/C on.
