My Love/Hate Relationship With Spring Break

My Love/Hate Relationship with Spring Break has come to an end. The alarm clock went off this morning at 6:30 and I jumped out of bed to wake up the girls and start the day. It has been a fun week. I didn't take a single picture, which I now regret, but everyday we did something fun.

Monday John stayed home from work and we went on a bike ride to the park and had a picnic. Monday night my sister Anne Marie flew into town. Tuesday the girls played with friends during the day and that night we went to the Drive-In movie. Wednesday we played with my cousin and her kids at her house. Thursday we went swimming with aforementioned cousins at the local heated pool. Friday John took off work again and we went to Extreme Play. Saturday was a girls day with shopping, dinner, and hanging out. Always lots of fun. Sunday we had a b-b-q at my Aunts house with all of my cousins that live in town. I was totally bummed out that we had to get back early to put the kids to bed.

We slept in late, didn't worry about bedtimes, practicing the piano, or doing jobs. However, with that total disregard for schedules, routines, and responsibilities came the hate part. My house was/is a disaster. I have dirty laundry all over the house. I spent the first hour today just collecting laundry and putting it into piles. My kids drop things wherever they are and don't think twice about picking it up half of the time. We had neighbor kids in and out of the hosue all week. I went to the grocery store almost every day last week. The diswasher was constantly running or should have been. By last night I couldn't walk into a single room or closet that looked clean. I have a lot of work to do today to catch up. So like most good things, small doses are best and I happily waved goodbye to the kidos when they headed out the door this morning. Thank heavens for public school!!!

amen! That sounds like a busy but very fun week for you. Another reason though why I prefer to take vacations during the break...leave a clean house and return to a clean house... Can't say the same that the hotel or my mom's house that we crash at... :)
